At Heritage, people come first. As a deliberately small school with class sizes of around 16, our teachers know each pupil as an individual—supporting their learning, wellbeing and personal growth within a calm, screen-free environment that encourages genuine, face-to-face relationships.
Our knowledge-rich curriculum blends academic rigour with creativity and curiosity, from literature and science to art, music and exploration beyond the classroom, helping pupils develop strong habits of attention and achieve excellent GCSE results among the best in Cambridge.
Recognised nationally for our distinctive approach and grounded in a commitment to affordability, we provide an outstanding, forward-thinking education that enables every child to fulfil their potential.
“The promotion of pupils’ wellbeing is central to the school’s ethos and is at the heart of school culture. Leaders know their pupils very well and ensure that the provision meets their individual needs well overall. Pupils have confidence in the school’s leaders.”

A Welcome To Pupils And Families
Thank you for your interest in Heritage School.
My wife Fiona and I founded Heritage nearly 20 years ago after both training and then teaching in mainstream secondary schools in Cambridge.
When we had our own family, we looked at education afresh and had concerns. The greatest was apathy… too many children leaving school whose minds were switched off, something at odds with the natural curiosity of children. We also saw the invisibility of children in large classes, a culture of teaching-to-the-test, a narrow curriculum and some poor behaviour. A friend sowed an idea, ‘why don’t you start a school?’… Heritage was born.
Nearly 20 years later Heritage finds itself an inadvertent pioneer championing a focus on people, knowledge and attention over spectacular facilities and new technologies. As the debate around the impact of screens on children’s development gathers momentum, we are proud to be to be an example of what a purposefully low-tech school looks like and how successful it can be.
We are looking for families who share our vision, who are interested in robust intellectual development but not at any price and who are committed to the vigorous but balanced growth of children as whole people.
Visitors often tell us what a special atmosphere Heritage has and we encourage you to come and experience it for yourself. Please get in touch to attend an Open Morning or arrange an individual visit.
I look forward to meeting you and your family.
